Bachelorette Guide: New Orleans

“There’s certain things in life that I love. One is architecture. And music, culture, food, people. New Orleans has all of that.”

Lenny Kravitz

Ditch the kale smoothies & perhaps a small portion of your dignity (mandatory for Bachelorette’s & double mandatory for Bourbon Street; but like… in a postive way), because I’m talking Big Easy Bachelorette vibes on the blog today!!! If you do plan on venturing down to our friends in the South anytime soon – Side Note: MAJOR emphasis on friendly, you’ll meet some of THE nicest people there – you NEED to read my tips & tricks on visiting the Jazz Capital of the good ol’ U S of A! What You Need to Know About Attending & Hosting an Influencer Event

“Why Use Social Media? Marketing is no longer about the stuff that you make, but about the stories you tell”

Seth Godin

Okay so as IF I actually needed to say this but Social Media is HUGE – I know, I know… I have developed quite the penchant for stating the obvious but it has literally spawned into this seemingly undying force of nature that shows absolutely zero signs of slowing down anytime soon! And thank actual GOODNESS because it just so happens to be, oh I don’t know, my whole entire life & career!! Now while most people automatically assume that a good 99.9% of my job consists of sitting on Twitter all day whilst carefully curating modertaly witty Tweets (ahem… I’ll have you know it’s actually 96%), there IS quite a lot of depth & responsibilties that go along with the title of being a Social Media Coordinator/Blogger – the most fun? Hosting &/or attending Social Media Influencer Events! SO having just recently hosted an Influencer Event at Ambrosia Natural Foods, I thought I’d give the low-down on tips for both hosting & attending an event such as this! ENJOY! (more…)

Post Vacay Blues: Getting Back Into The Groove

“No man needs a vacation so much as the man who just had one”

Elbert Hubbard

OMG I don’t think that there could ever be a more truer quote on the face of this entire planet. Like literally. There’s undoubtedly going to be an inevitable sorrow that’s always associated with entering “real life” again, what with having just experienced days of endless amounts of travel, discovery & consuming copious amounts of tasty, foreign foods. I mean, I’m sure that we’ve all suffered from a bit of PTD (post travel depression) here & there – I did this past week, that’s for sure – so I thought I’d share 5 simple ways to ease back into routine once the vacation has come to an end. PLUS not to mention, we all just came off summer, which is essentially one season long binge of holidays & vacations! So enjoy! (more…)

The Natural Deodorant Debacle!

Post by: Jamie Fairbairn, Holistic Nutrition Student & National Level Waterskier

I love the smell of a woman/man’s armpit when they aren’t wearing any deodorant

… haha just kidding. Said no-one EVER!

Summer is HERE and since we’ve been discussing ways to help reboot those New-Years Resolutions, I thought that we should discuss a necessary staple for fellow fitness fanatics – deodorant! Whether you’ve been upping your gym routine or simply enjoying the heat wave that is July in Toronto, I will safely assume your deodorant use has been on the rise as well – tell me I’m not the only sweaty, smelly one this summer?! But I’m happy to announce after months of hunting the perfect deodorant that I may (emphasize the may) not be smelly anymore! (more…)

DIY Eco-Friendly Wedding Decor

“Every girl has her best friend, boyfriend, and true love. But you’re really lucky if they’re all the same person”

unknown

Ever since oh so hesitantly activating my Pinterest account a couple of years ago, I admittedly have become a bit of a self-proclaimed “DIY demon”. Not that I have, or will, ever reach a “Martha Stewart” level of craftiness, I have undoubtedly developed quite the penchant for all things involving glue guns. So with wedding season upon us, I thought it would be more than appropriate to share three, insanely adorable Eco-friendly, DIY crafts that are perfect for the Big Day! (more…)

Finding The Perfect Running Shoe

“Give a girl the right shoes & she will conquer the world”

Marilyn Monroe

Running enthusiasts near & far, avert your eyes! To be completely honest, I’ve never really paid much attention to the quality of my running shoes. Essentially whatever happened to be available in the closet that day, whether that be my mother’s wide-set runners or my beyond ancient kicks, is what would wind up on my feet. Perhaps not the best decision for a pigeon-toed gal who suffers from the occasional aches & pains that inevitably accompany shin splints. Needless to say, I needed to find a proper pair of running shoes – like yesterday!!! Insert: SportChek Yorkdale & their insanely amazing [& FREE] gait analysis service… did I mention free?!  (more…)
