10 Things you NEED to try in Haliburton

“I’m lost at the lake, don’t bother me”

To be QUITE frank, ever since making the “big move” to Toronto, I’ve discovered that I am undeniably, one hundred percent NOT a city girl. Having grown up as a bright eyed, sheltered gal from the burbs, I’d always been WILDLY envious of my Torontonion counterparts when they would describe big city life as vibrant, colourful or going so far as to suggest that it makes them “feel alive“. So I’m sure you can only imagine the shock & disappointment I felt when I discovered that running through the 6ix with my woes is simply not all it’s cracked up to be. Thanks for nothing, Aubrey. If anything, the only reason I’ve ever felt more “alive” in this city is because I’m now acutely in tune with my own mortality. Bleak, I’m aware – but let’s just say that my experience here has been very Gotham City rather than Sex & the City. I’m sorry fellow city dwellers, Toronto DOES have an undeniably amazing culture & social scene… but I tried, & the city life is just not for me! CoolNSmart

Look… I get it. I know that we’re all supposed to adhere to the whole morally responsible, “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” or “beauty is subjective” millennial belief system. But to be completely honest here, sometimes a gal just needs a good ol’ fashioned, generic beauty guide of somewhat socially acceptable makeup trends to get her through the day. Am I right?! Because I sure as heck know that my grade ten, “frosted gloss and metallic, eye-shadow obsessed self” would have thoroughly appreciated some form of guidance in regards to what was, so called, “in” during the times. Side Note: It seriously pains me to look back at these photos because there was, and never will be, anything remotely “okay” with a jet black raccoon eye & pink frosted gloss combination. Le sigh. 5 Things You NEED to Know About Spokehaus

“Music is a Safe Kind of High”

Jimi Hendrix

When my cousin first asked if I wanted to try this new spin class located in City Centre, I ignorantly grouped it amongst the hundreds of other spinning classes that populate our city. Well let me be the first to tell you… folks, this ain’t your average spin class! If I had to think of one word that accurately depicts Spokehaus, it would have to be “Sassy”. The amazing, cheeky kind of sassy that is oh so addicting & leaves you positively craving to come back for more. “Look like a beauty. Train like a beast”

unknown

For me personally, one of the biggest obstacles to getting my booty off of the couch & into the gym is feeling confident & comfortable in the workout clothes that I’m sporting… like it is beyond CRUCIAL! Now I’m completely aware that this concept may seem a tad superficial to some, but the only thing that frumpy tee’s & sweats are going to motivate me to do is binge watch a Netflix series!!! So today, I’m talking wearable workout gear that will leave you positively craving to get back into the workout game. (more…)
