Prepping for the PERFECT Picnic!

“A compromise is an agreement whereby both parties get what neither of them wanted”

Compromise. I’m a bit ashamed to admit that prior to entering a long term relationship, “compromise” was a wildly under-utilized word in my vocabulary. In fact I’m nearly positive that it had been sufficiently wiped from my rather selfish brain almost entirely. I’m an Aries… so that KIND OF excuses me though, right? Like, it’s LITERALLY written in the stars or something along those lines? Alas, the tables somewhat turned upon shacking up with my dearly beloved earlier this year & I can now, with 100 percent confidence, recite every possible meaning & origin of the word “compromise” on a level comparable to that of a linguist. I mean, snaps for realizing that someone else’s needs were just as important as mine… if not more! Anywho – our most recent venture into “compromise land” as a co-habitational couple has been deciding how to divvy up our weekends so that we’re able to enjoy quality time with both of our families. AKA. I cannot quite remember a time that I’ve spent less time at the cottage & more time in the city as I have over the past few months!! (more…)

Rose & Lavender Bed Linen Spray

“I’m like… four days past my bedtime”

Pinterest

When it comes to activities that are deemed socially acceptable in terms of “Basic Betch” standards, an obligatory trip to the Lavender Farm during Summer has undoubtedly joined the ranks of such sought-after “basic” excursions like Apple Orchard visits during Autumn & Tulip Festivals in Spring. It has seriously become THE coveted Summer Instagram Photo-op of 2017, & I whole-heartedly applaud & fully support these efforts. I mean, my Instagram Feed has postively blown UP with the cutest Lavender Farm photos & I almost literally cannot even anymore. Also it’s super great to get out & enjoy nature & all that jazz too, or whatever…. NOW seeing as how I haven’t actually had the opportunity to get out there & explore one of these Lavender Farms myself, I thought I’d still try to hop on that good ol’ “Lavender Train” & share a simple Lavender DIY recipe with all of you today! Insert: Rose & Lavender Essential Oil Linen Sprays!   (more…)

3 Cottage Appropriate Meals for Canada Day

“On behalf of all Canadians… SORRY for being so awesome all the time”

BuzzFeed

When you factor out black fly & mosquito season, I’d say summer for us Crazy Canucks culminates to a mere four good, “quality weekends“. So when Canada Day long weekend hits, I tend to reserve said weekends solely for trips up to the Great North – aside from when there is some form of mandatory, “super important” social function tying me to the city, like a wedding or shower of sorts…. Which is just the actual WORST – kidding, kidding – but if we’re actually being honest here, I’m really only half kidding because I take my cottage summer weekends VERY VERY seriously. Anywho – my nonsensical, long-winded intro is not for nothing, what I’m getting at here is that I know the “ins & outs” of all things cottage – not limited to “socially acceptable cottage mannerisms” so to speak. And seeing as how Canada Day officially, officially marks the start of cottages, camping & all things summer social, I thought it apt to discuss one of the more traditional & unspoken, yet totally mandatory, responsibilities of a cottage guest: prepping a meal for the weekend! I’m therefore sharing a few different, SIMPLE meal ideas one can bring up for a summer weekend getaway with friends… because it honestly is such an ART! (more…)

What You Need to Know About Attending & Hosting an Influencer Event

“Why Use Social Media? Marketing is no longer about the stuff that you make, but about the stories you tell”

Seth Godin

Okay so as IF I actually needed to say this but Social Media is HUGE – I know, I know… I have developed quite the penchant for stating the obvious but it has literally spawned into this seemingly undying force of nature that shows absolutely zero signs of slowing down anytime soon! And thank actual GOODNESS because it just so happens to be, oh I don’t know, my whole entire life & career!! Now while most people automatically assume that a good 99.9% of my job consists of sitting on Twitter all day whilst carefully curating modertaly witty Tweets (ahem… I’ll have you know it’s actually 96%), there IS quite a lot of depth & responsibilties that go along with the title of being a Social Media Coordinator/Blogger – the most fun? Hosting &/or attending Social Media Influencer Events! SO having just recently hosted an Influencer Event at Ambrosia Natural Foods, I thought I’d give the low-down on tips for both hosting & attending an event such as this! ENJOY! (more…)

World’s CUTEST Hot Chocolate

“Chocolate is cheaper than therapy, & you don’t need an appointment”

Catherine Aitken

Okay so this overly inflated Blog Title may or may not be a slight exaggeration, but this mason jar hot chocolate is pretty darn cute, is it not? I wish that I could take credit for this adorable DIY, but truth be told I was totally inspired by my Aunt Liz, whom is essentially Martha Stewart 2.0. Every year around Christmas, my Aunt gives out these cookie/baked goods recipes in mason jars to friends & family, & they are just SUCH a hit.. so I thought I’d try my hand at a hot chocolate version! This is a super easy & cost-effective hostess gift with the most perfect personal touch! Enjoy! (more…)

Albert Camus

We’re a mere four days into October & I’ve literally crammed as many October/Autumn themed activities into the past 96 hours it’s almost nauseating. SO… to commemorate my favourite time of the year, I’ve put together a Fall Bucket List that you simply MUST try before winter rolls around! Get on it people! (more…)

“You can’t buy happiness, but you can buy ice cream, and that’s kind of the same thing”

unknown

This summer is literally en FUEGO!!! However, there’s only so many semi-sleepless nights I can bare sans air conditioning & sans clothing! SO in an attempt to thwart the heat, cease my whining & embrace all things that this weather has to offer… I’m listing off three, “better for you” cold treats! (more…)

DIY Lemon & Lime Sport Drink

“It’s hard to beat a person who never gives up”

Babe Ruth

Gatorade has a long withstanding title of being a total staple in the athletic & childhood “sick day” departments. I mean, who else remembers receiving a bottle of Gatorade bedside from their parents during bouts of the cold or flu? Aside from the obvious downside of actually being sick, this ritual was pure bliss – my personal flavour of choice was always orange or lime! However, there’s just one teensy, tiny problem with this little “situation”… Sport Drinks are typically loaded with sugars!! So today I’m sharing this incredible [& healthy], lemon & lime, homemade sport drink with all of you! (more…)
